On Friday (wait, that was over two weeks ago) my adorable little cheerleader performed at the Festival of Trees, and she did such a good job. Her class was definitely the biggest by far and probably knew their performance better than 75% of the other classes. I guess there are a lot of little ones that want to be cheerleaders when they get bigger. Alexis was so excited and literally ran over to her friend Sam when we got there, those two are so cute together and she loves that Sam is in afternoon Kindergarten, the bishop's daughter and only lives a few houses away.
My most favorite moment was when Alexis was on stage she saw McKadin and started waving to him.The next cutest moment was after we picked her up from the dressing room she saw Madison and they literally almost tipped each other over they were so excited to see each other (and they were pretty much inseperable the rest of the night, in fact they were holding hands most of the time too). I guess I need to figure out a way for them to see each other more
Ty's family, Jamie's family, my Dad's Family and my mom all came and Alexis couldn't believe that so many people from her family came to see her performance. We tried to see some of the fun trees and wreaths, but it was utter chaos and Justin was not having it-he hates crowds with a passion. After the fourth row he started to get irony, which made the kids irony, which made me irony, so we just left. I was a little mad that all these people came to see Alexis and then we just ditch them. But it is what it is... I guess after 9 years I should know that Justin doesn't want to do anything that involves cute decorations and massive amounts of people.
The next Tuesday we went Ice Skating for Taylor's birthday. Alexis was so excited and but the second her feet hit the ice she was not a very happy camper. She was so scared and it took us about 20 minutes to go around the rink the first time and then she wanted to go sit down. I sat down and talked to her about how she just has to practice and then one time she'll know what to do. She tired it one more time, but being just like her mom and a total perfectionist, it drove her crazy that she couldn't skate like a pro. I helped her go around the rink and then we took a break and ate some yummy nachos and pretzels with Morgan while the older kids skated.
When we were finished eating our treats and opening presents with Taylor, Alexis decided she wanted to go one more time. This time we got on the ice and she actually went a few feet without holding onto the wall and then cute Taylor came over and asked if she could help her. Alexis loved it after that and decided ice skating was fun. She was still a little hesistant and held my hand most of the time, but every couple of minutes she would let go and try it by herself. (Note to self, I gotta her some rollerblades for her birthday, so next winter she'll know exactly what to do). The best part was when Jon grabbed her other hand and the three of us went flying around the rink. Alexis had the biggest smile the whole time. I was so glad and Jon and Taylor were there to help Alexis realize how much fun ice skating is, and now she can't wait to go again.
It's been a crazy couple of weeks, fighting another cold, getting Christmas presents wrapped (and if you've seen my presents they have to have immaculate bows and as Jamie's kids said "they look like they are from a catalog"-but really, doesn't a present wrapped nice make the gift so much more exciting?), writing Santa Letters, making bows with Jamie and Steph, hanging out with friends, ice skating and getting ready for our party this weekend. I love how much time I've been able to spend with my family and friends the past few weeks. I need to remember to not take the most important people in my life for granted. I am so lucky to live so close to everyone and for some reason we never have the time to do anything together. I can't wait for this weekend, its going to be a ton of fun!
Ok, one more funny story I just thought of. Justin picked up the kids from daycare yesterday and Kyle was running around without his shirt on. Justin asked him where his shirt was and he said "I Buzz". Umm, ok...then his teachers told Justin that Kyle had been fighting with them all day to take his shirt off and he would just stand in front of the mirror with his hands on his hips and stare at himself. Oh my goodness...I knew boys loved to be naked, but now I have a son that wants to sit and stare at himself in the mirror all day. My little nephew loves to run around without his shirt on and I guess since Kyle's been spending more time with him he's decided to take his cue and follow in his footsteps. I asked Kyle last night when I got home why he wasn't wearing his shirt and he told me "lyle donnnnt know-i ike macky". Silly boys.
How was that for a novel? (My doctor is putting me on a new mix of medication tonight, so hopefully in a couple of days I'll be feeling better and not be completely dehydrated/exhausted, and maybe have a little more energy so I can get my house cleaned up from Christmas, my pictures edited...)
