Sunday Afternoon

Sunday, November 8, 2009

This afternoon I was tired of being cooped up in the house, so I decided it was time for a little Fall photoshoot with my kids. I seem to never take them out to do an actual shoot because I am so busy taking pictures of other families. But I am so glad we did, and I found the most amazing little field about 10 miles away from my house. LOVE IT.
*
Kyle fell asleep on the way up the canyon, so he wasn't in the most picture happy mood, but Alexis on the other hand was definitely ready to cheese' it up for the camera.

(I told you Kyle wasn't too interested in taking pictures with Alexis)
*
The only way I could make him even look at the camera was to have him pretend to be Buzz. Thank goodness for an incredibly fast shutter, at least I got a couple fun ones of Kyle.

Now Alexis on the other hand, I couldn't believe how many not just good, but amazing pictures I got of her.
*
This would be Alexis thinking about what poses would look good-seriously-I'm going to give a little disclosure statement here-I have no idea where my daughter comes up with the poses she does, after five years I think I've come to the conclusion that she was born with these crazy poses in her head!!!

*
Now this picture might just be one of my favorite pictures ever. I love pretty much everything about this picture, the softness in her face, the lighting, the colors, the pose...pretty much everything. Now if I could just decide if I like the color or sepia version best. What do you think?

I love living so close to the mountains, you can't beat a Sunday afternoon hike, fall weather and an impromptu photoshoot. Hopefully next time Justin is feeling good enough to go with us.

So Much Going On.

Wow-the past two months have flown by, but I guess that is what happens when you have been sick since Labor Day. But I finally think that this last round of medicine did the job and I am really, truly feeling better. In fact I am feeling better than I have in a long time. Anyone that is a mom knows that just because your sick the world doesn't stop, and that could never be more true than in my life.

The kids loved going to the pumpkin patch, Kyle thought the pumpkins were "sooo cooote".

While Alexis thought it was the coolest thing in the world that she could balance them on her head.

Alexis really isn't mad in this picture...it would just be another one of her poses. I'm not sure why Kyle is covering his mouth, but even so, I still love this picture.

See-I told you she was in a posing mood, again. Shocker-right?

Alexis was so excited to have her Dad carve her pumpkin, I guess I'm not talented enough. The funny thing is, she wanted a werewolf in her pumpkin (only because she is sooooo excited for New Moon to come out and she thinks its the coolest thing ever that Jacob is also the little boy in "Shark Boy and Lava Girl".) I honestly don't think there is another 5 year in the world that loves Twilight as much as she does.

Grandma Brenda came to Alexis' kindergarten parade with me and Justin. I have to say that seeing my little girl walk down the hallways actually made me feel old. (I'm just not old enough to have a little girl in school, seriously-I remember my kindergarten parade, only because I didn't get to be in it, I was in a car accident that morning and I was late for school and my teacher made me sit in the room while everyone else walked in the parade-like it was even my fault-I'm still bitter, can you tell?)
She was the cutest Cleopatra, and loved being able to wear eyeliner and lipstick, before we went to school she couldn't stop staring at her eyes in the mirror, it was hilarious.

Kyle was also the cutest Buzz Lightyear. I love how blue his eyes look in this picture.

Their cousin Cody went Trick-or-Treating with us and they all had a ton of fun.

And if all the Halloween and Pumpkin fun wasn't enough. Justin and I celebrated our 8th anniversary, we didn't get to do anything on our anniversary because of work on Tuesday, but I did get the best anniversary present ever (I'll have to share that one in a later post). Yesterday we did go and see a movie, went shopping, ate at Tepanakyi and then got Cold Stone-chocolate and gummy bears! It doesn't get much better than than... Crazy how time files. I love my life and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Ok, that's a lie. I would trade it to have a healthy family. As if the flu didn't kick our butts enough, Alexis had the stomach flu on Friday and last night about 10pm Justin got it too, in fact it's almost 11am and he's still in bed. I just have my fingers crossed that I don't get it, that is the last thing I need right now.

freshin' up

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Fall has to be my most favorite time of the year, all the gorgeous colors, being able to wear 3/4 of of wardrobe again (I love sweaters, long sleeve shirts and comfy pj pants), fabulous new shows on tv-and I actually get a break from being so busy at work after fall schedule has officially launched, yummy pumpkin desserts, pumpkin patches... But the thing I love most is doing a little "fall" cleaning and redecorating. I am finally going to paint my hallways, do a couple of furniture staining projects for our 3rd bedroom and obviously I decided to freshin' up our blog.
(I just can't stand not posting without a couple of pictures-these are from last year at the pumpkin patch-i can't believe how much both of my kiddos have grown since then)

*
We have a crazy two weeks ahead of us: birthday parties, ward carnival, trunk or treat, Alexis' first Halloween parade at school, Halloween and an anniversary-8 years (wow!!! it has only taken me 8 years to convince Justin to go Christmas shopping after dinner on our anniversary-I can't wait-I don't think he has expressed any interest in helping me buy the kids presents EVER-but i did threaten to only buy toys that he had to build if he didn't come with me this year-who would have thought that is all it would take!) and of course a trip to the pumpkin patch and carving our pumpkins.

A month full of pictures

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

The past 4 weeks I have been so sick, and I have kind of felt bad that I haven't taken very many pictures of my kids. But last night I found a file on my computer from September and there were a ton of pictures, what a fun surprise. Here are a few of my favorites from the past few weeks.
*
Alexis is on a competition cheer team and she loves it. Every minute of every day she is practicing her cheers or tumbling. I definitely think I found her little hidden talent. She can't wait for her first competition this weekend.

*

About a month ago my Grandpa officially moved to St. George and moved out of his house up here. Sticking with true Boulter tradition we had to make his going away party at Leatherbys.

Alexis and Taylor were being so crazy all night, and decided it would be fun to make funny faces and not smile for any of my pictures, at least Karen smiled for me.

This would be Alexis' wide-eyed funny face.

And this would be Taylor's...I think she wins

I can't leave this little man out. Kyle is so excited to be Buzz for Halloween, and has to wear his costume at least once a week.

Last weekend this little man turned one, and I just had to share Luke's bitter beer face. How cute is he?

I'm not too fond of the lighting in this picture, but look how cute they are.

The entire time we were at Luke's party, Kyle's full attention was on the remote controlled spider they had. Mostly he was concerned about the spider staying as far away from him as possible (and thanks to Uncle Adam, he had nightmares all night of the spider coming after him). *SIDE NOTE* I decided to grow out Kyle's hair in hopes that it would be a little curly like his sisters, but nope, there is not one ounce of curl in that hair, but I am kind of digging his faux-hawk he has going on.

On Saturday we had a bbq for Grandma Meredith, and the cousins had a ton of fun together. These three are absolutely crazy together and play so good. They couldn't believe they actually got to play two nights in a row.

I was trying so hard to get Caleb to smile, but it was not going to happen because Cowboys are tough and don't smile. I just love this picture of the boys making mean tough guy faces.

Last night we went to Witch-a-palooza at Gardner Village with Ty's family and my Dad's family. The kids had so much fun and just ran from witch to witch. Justin wasn't too happy with how crowded it was, but Ty was there to keep him distracted.
*

This is my favorite picture I took last night. I was pretty impressed how good of a tripod Ty's stroller made.

Kyle stayed in his stroller most of the night, eating chicken stars, but while the other kids were eating donuts and hot chocolate he got into the Halloween spirit and starting scaring everyone. This picture was taken right before he scared Grandpa Jeff.

What is there to say about these two little troublesome, hyper, cutie pies.

Not really sure what Justin is thinking, but I'm just shocked I got a picture of him not goofing off.

Little Miss Sophie is just so adorable, and I love that she cries every time someone tries to take her away from Aunt Shara.

I love the cool angles in the background of this picture.

This is the only picture we got of all the older kids together.

I guess even though I've been so sick, we have still found time to squeeze in a lot of fun things. But now that I am finally feeling better, my goal is to get up to this amazing new location and take some Fall pictures of my kids this week. Let's just pray I can actually find time to do it before the leaves all die.

PERIOD!!!

Monday, October 12, 2009

It seems like I have been so busy with photoshoots lately I have hardly taken any pictures of my cute kiddos, but I told myself this week I am going to break that camera out while I'm at home. (Which isn't very often, but we'll see how it goes). I do have some fun pictures from my little nephew Luke's birthday and we're going to Gardner Village tonight, and I can't wait to finally do my kids Fall photo shoots. But for now I have to share the funniest thing that Alexis said to me over the weekend.
Anyone that has spent any amount of time with Alexis knows that she speaks exactly what's on her mind, and doesn't care who is around. So on Thursday night I had to run up to Roberts to pick up some ribbon for a Halloween project I'm doing. While we were walking around I asked Alexis something that she had no interest in whatsoever, and out of nowhere she says "PERIOD!!!" mom. That means you have to stop talking or pause because its the start of a new sentence. So every time I tell you PERIOD that means you have to stop talking to me. Got it?" Honestly, what do you say to that? At first I was so made at her for talking back to me, but then after I realized she was still going on and on about what a Period meant, I couldn't help but smile and start laughing. I guess I should just be thankful she is listening in school.

BYU Fan ???

Friday, October 9, 2009

I wouldn't say that I'm not a BYU fan, in fact I am, unless they are playing the Utes (what can I say, I went to SUU and the UofU, so I have to bleed red). Either way you have to admit this poster really nailed it.

if looks could kill

Monday, September 21, 2009

A couple weeks ago Alexis and I went to hang out with Ricki and her girls (since she has officially become a hunting widow until Thanksgiving). I love that Aubrie and Alexis have so much fun together (minus the drama moments from both of them-mostly mine). But overall they play really good together. Ricki and I are already planning our girls New York trip once these three are old enough-because honestly we both know that convincing our husbands to go will be next to impossible-I think a fun girls weekend will be the perfect way to experience New York.

if looks could kill...

I wouldn't mess with Aubrie, she means business-bubble blowing business that is.

Riley wasn't really into the bubble thing, so while Alexis and Aubrie were entertained, I entertained myself and took some fun pictures of this little one.

(you're right Ricki-I love that you don't have any neighbors behind your house, it gives you the perfect backdrops for mini shoots.)

Just a couple more random pictures from our family picture party at Liberty Park.

this is the most classic picture, it just proves how picture crazy mom's are. We can't miss one minute of action.

I'm not sure why I didn't end up with any pictures of Kyle from the park. I feel bad now, but I'm sure we will get some of him while I'm on furlough this week and me and him have some mommy time while Alexis is at school.
