january 2013

This year has started off with a bang. thankfully the colds and flu's went away right after the holidays, because our schedules have been packed.  Kyle has begged us to put him in hockey for months, and months-I finally gave in and signed him up for the learn to skate lessons. He was super scared the first week, but slowly got closer and closer to the ice and finally decided he could do it.

Alexis decided that she wanted to take the classes too and had a ton of fun.

The first couple weeks of the year literally flew by because I was getting ready for CHA, the Craft and Hobby Show.   The show was awesome and we were super busy-and came home with a ton of orders-so mission accomplished.    We stayed right next to Disneyland and this is what I got to walk by every morning...seriously can someone remind me why I live in Utah?

I absolutely love traveling with BasicGrey. We work really hard all day, and than play and have fun all night long. Plus Greg (one of owners) is just awesome and just shakes his head and me and Rachel (his wife and creative genius behind BG). Like when we are on our way to dinner and we see a Sprinkles Cupcakes and HAVE to have one.

Alexis was over the moon excited that I brought her a red velvet cupcake. (sprinkles is owned by one of the judges on Cupcake Wars-Alexis' favorite show on TV). I have to say-the German chocolate was so delicious, probably the best cupcake I have ever had.

We also eat at some of the most AMAZING restaurants, and have been known to drive, walk for miles, take multiple subways...just to get to one that was recommended to us. Gulfstream was no exception, even though we had to drive in LA traffic to Newport Beach, it was totally worth it. Especially when they brought my cow, I mean rib eye, to the table.  Good thing I had three hungry guys with me to help me finish it off.  (side note-I secretly want two of these lights to go over my kitchen table).

I don't know how I got so lucky and have a boss that is so amazing and uber cool. She is the best traveling buddy and a fabulous friend, we literally just messed around taking pictures and talking our entire flight.

Love the sunset from 35,00 feet.

I'm always super excited to come home to my adorable kids and hubby. But I wasn't excited to come home to the worst blizzard Utah has had in years.

A couple days after I got home Alexis started piano lessons. I honestly lucked out finding the best teacher up in Bountiful. After her first lesson, she gets in the car and throws her hands up and says "that was freaking awesome". And I haven't had to make her practice once. In fact she memorized her first two songs within a couple of days. (Did I tell you that the only reason she wanted to take piano lessons was so she could become a famous singer and song writer one day, so cute, and so ambitious).

I've spent a lot of downtime with my cute family just relaxing and catching up.  But my poor little Makenna got sick again the day after I got home. We took her to the doctor and she had tonsillitis, an ear infection and pink eye-caused from her tonsils being so infected it was pushing the infection into her sinus cavity and up into her eyes. Sad right?  We started antibiotics and saw the surgeon the next day. After almost a year of her being sick all the time they decided they didn't want to wait any longer to get her tonsils out and are going to put tubes in her ears at the same time-because her hearing has not dropped below the normal level. My poor baby. This week is probably not going to be all that fun, but hopefully we can stop this cycle and get her better for once in her lifetime.

This last Tuesday we had the craziest weather and the most awful freezing rain. I loved when I got to the office seeing all the windshield wipers sticking out so they wouldn't freeze to the window. Pretty funny. The drive home was super scary-only because people are morons and drive 80 miles an hour no matter how crappy the weather is.  When we got home our drive way as an ice skating rink. It took Justin and I over 90 minutes to dig (with a shingling shovel) the ice off the driveway. Talk about an awesome workout. Again, why do I live in Utah?
